I can't make any more excuses. I'm just not cut out for the dedicated writer business. I want to find the time. Rather, I NEED to find the time. But, I just don't do it. Maybe it's because I want my story to just sing and I feel I'm tone deaf. Or, maybe I just want to have a book dazzle the senses, but I'm no chef nor skilled musician.
Then again, maybe it's because I find myself easily distracted. Not the ADD type of distracted, but the obsessed-with-other-interests type distracted.
So, I've resolved myself to two things: try and be more dedicated to writing my story rather than just thinking about it and start another blog.
Another blog? Yes. I planned on this blog being for the sole purposed of tracking progress in writing a book. So, I'm sticking to my guns on this issue. The new blog will be the dumping grounds for subjects that I want to write about without fear of cluttering this one. A best-selling author recommends in his book on writing that one should just practice writing everyday by writing to one's self. Or something like that. His name is David Morell... you know, that guy that created "Rambo." I met him once and corresponded via e-mail once. A heckuva guy. Super nice, super smart, super talented. I tried to follow his recommendation once and felt pretty good about it. But, it's difficult for a highly-distractable person like me to be dedicated to it.
So, this idea of the second blog comes to mind. Yeah, that's it, I thought. Let me just throw everything I can at that second blog that isn't my story and isn't THIS blog. So, what to expect with the new blog? Politics, sports, pop culture. Movies, TV, American Idol disgust. Recommendations on books, writers, things to do. I don't care if anyone ever reads it. I don't care if anyone that does read it hates it and wishes me a violent death. I just need to post and post and post. I need to practice. I need to write. I want to just have fun with it and not take it seriously and feel that if I don't succeed, I've failed.
So, when I get the new one started, I'll let you know.
edit Guess what? I did it. It's called "My Dumping Ground." Go there and you'll see why.
